Destination Imagination (DI) is a world-wide program offered to students from Kindergarten through to University. Students must work together to develop a solution to a STEM related challenge and present their solution to their peers. DI encourages and teaches creativity, collaboration, communication, perseverance, critical thinking, and confidence. There are six guiding principles:
Adults cannot tell you what to do!
No failing, only learning.
3. Piggybacking (IE: to use ideas from other teams) is encouraged.
Take risks.
Include everyone.
Have fun!
At Lord Kitchener, the DI program is parent-led and offered in class during school hours. If you would like to organize a DI challenge for your child’s class, please contact your child's teacher.
The PAC supports the DI program by reimbursing parent volunteers for the cost of materials required for STEM challenges. Please contact the PAC on how to get reimbursed.
If you are interested in volunteering to run an after-school DI team, please contact the Principal. For more information, please visit: https://www.destinationimagination.org
